About Me
Clara Carlson-Kirigin
I am a proofreader with a love of grammar and enthusiasm for the English language. I have always been detail oriented and held myself to high standards, which fits perfectly into the work I do. I love finding mistakes and fixing errors, and I find accomplishment in knowing that I have helped to bring the quality of a transcript to the next level.
I graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in Latin Language and Literature, minoring in Ancient Greek and in History. Before I began working with court reporters, I took the course Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ from Caitlin Pyle at Proofread Anywhere. It taught me the style rules specific to court reporting based on Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation by Margie Wakeman Wells, and NCRA guidelines.
Since 2018, I have been helping court reporters take control of their time while producing quality transcripts that are accurate and free of errors.
My freelance business is my full-time job, and I have gained experience working on all types of transcripts, from depositions and arbitrations to trials and expert testimony. From my home in Vermont, I work with reporters in over 15 states across the U.S.
In addition to proofreading transcripts, I also offer fiction editing services for writers. In all my work, my goal is to use my knowledge of the English language to help others succeed in their work. If that is something that you are interested in, I would love to hear from you.
